HOW TO FABRICATE A VILLAIN: THE FARCE IN DEMONIZING DUTERTE’S DRUG WAR

Who said revenge had to be served cold? The House of Representatives’ Quad Committee has found a spicier way to do it—dig up a well-loved dead horse and flog it until its bones crack. Their latest masterpiece? The demonization of Duterte’s wildly popular War on Drugs.

But you can almost hear Uncle Sam's puppet strings clinking in the background.

There’s something perversely entertaining about watching this "mega-panel" dive deep into extrajudicial killings like it’s the next season of Narcos they’re trying to script. They’ve been inviting anyone with a pulse, from disgruntled former officials and drug lords themselves to your neighborhood conspiracy theorist, to sling mud at Duterte’s anti-drug crusade, which, let’s face it, made him a household name—and not just among your Nanay who hated drugs (unless it’s ibuprofen).

The Quad Committee has mastered the art of asking “educated questions,” while the rest of us are left wondering, “Isn’t there a bigger agenda at play here?”

The truth? This isn’t about justice or human rights. This is about keeping Duterte from rising up again like an anti-West phoenix and ensuring his “pro-China” stance doesn’t trickle down into the next election cycle. With Marcos and his US-loving allies perched at the helm, the last thing Washington wants is for another strongman (or woman) with ties to Beijing to mess with their geopolitical chess game.

So, the House Quad Committee plays the role of the hand-puppet, demonizing Duterte for alleged extrajudicial killings that Filipinos already signed off on because let’s be real—over 80% of them loved the guy while he was in office.

And who’s buying this circus? Definitely not the 30,000-plus souls they claim were “victimized” by the drug war. Those numbers are bloated, like a Pinoy buffet gone wrong. (Tangina, for comparison: Israel has killed 42,000 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip—are you telling me Duterte’s drug war was on that level? LOL.) We’re supposed to believe this was some apocalyptic spree when half the allegations are based on hearsay and politically motivated grandstanding?

But in the age of feelings over facts, who needs numbers to back up an agenda? Instead, they’ll keep shouting “massacre” while the rest of us sit back and laugh, knowing full well this has nothing to do with Filipino lives lost but everything to do with keeping the US happy and China's influence at bay.

It’s a game as old as time—discredit anyone too independent, too loud, or too willing to snub the West. Welcome to Duterte’s world, where he’s made into the bogeyman of every social issue, while the real agenda is shoved under the rug: maintain US dominance, keep the Philippines from getting too cozy with China, and ensure the old guard remains in power.

Let’s not kid ourselves—this isn’t justice. This is imperialism with better optics.

Duterte knew what he was doing. He gave Filipinos what they wanted: a leader unafraid to get his hands dirty to clean up the country’s filthy underbelly. And that scared the hell out of anyone looking to keep the Philippines as their puppet state.
